Sub-issues let you break larger pieces of work into smaller, manageable tasks while maintaining the relationship to the parent issue.
Creating sub-issues
From a parent issue
Open a parent issue and click Add sub-issue to create a child issue.
Converting existing issues
You can also convert an existing issue into a sub-issue by setting its parent from the issue detail panel.
Hierarchy
Nesting rules
Issues support one level of nesting — a parent issue with child sub-issues. Each sub-issue inherits the project of its parent.
Independent properties
Sub-issues have their own state, priority, assignee, and other properties. They can be in different cycles or have different deadlines from their parent.
Progress tracking
Aggregate progress
The parent issue shows aggregate progress based on the completion status of its sub-issues.
List view
Sub-issues appear nested under their parent in list views, with an expand/collapse toggle.
